Maleficent Critics Reviews

Ronak Kotecha
Times of India

With widespread death and destruction, this fairytale costume drama is by no means a child’s play. However, it has enough live-action magic to bring the big screen alive.

Helen O’Hara

An improvement on the first film, in the end, and an encouraging rallying cry against fear and intolerance, but it’s still far too busy and baroque to match its leading lady’s elegance.

Johnson Thomas

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil starring Angelina Jolie attempts to lend the antagonist of Sleeping Beauty a more ameliorating persona is rather mish-mashed in terms of ideology.

Johnny Oleksinski
New York Post

“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” is less fun, romantic, and engaging than its 2014 predecessor — which was only adequate. And while Angelina Jolie is still regal and snarky, she’s barely in this sequel.

Some more critics review

Molly Freeman
Screen Rant

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil expands the world of Disney’s retelling with high fantasy action, but suffers from a weak plot and thin characters.

Manohla Dargis
The NYTimes

Angelina Jolie returns as the powerful, dangerous fairy in this tame, disappointing follow-up to the 2014 revisionist hit.
